Sensory Assistant

As Sensory Assistant you’ll join as we expand our sensory capability at our new European Innovation Hub in Lübeck (near Hamburg, Germany). Involved with projects at the beginning, you’ll be responsible for selecting, planning and executing sensory tests to support the needs of the European Food & Beverage Applications Team.
This is a hands-on role, working with the Sensory Manager and Scientists across categories. The primary focus is serving European customers, but as a member of our global team, you’ll get to collaborate with and learn from international colleagues across other regions. With a passion for Sensory science, and an appetite to innovate and build something new, this is a role where you can make a real impact.

Your responsibilities
About the role
- The Sensory Assistant will work as part of the sensory team, responsible for planning, and delivering sensory tests to support the needs of the European Food & Beverage Applications Team.
- You will be involved in project meetings to fully understand the objectives and identify appropriate sensory tests to perform, designing test protocols to follow.
- You’ll be collecting and processing data, using rigorous statistical analysis. Responsible for interpreting outcomes, you’ll deliver your findings back to the team in reports and presentations.
- he knowledge you gain will contribute the broader intellectual activities of the team; such as drafting invention disclosure and patent applications and providing content for presentations at scientific conferences.
- A specialist in the team, you may also provide sensory training to colleagues and external customers as required.

About you
To be successful in the role you’ll need to have:

- Some level of study in Sensory, Food Science, Biostatistics, or related disciplines
- Some experience in food product development, sensory evaluation or consumer testing gained through previous work or placements
- Experience of planning and organizing sensory tests
- Understanding of statistical analyses and experience with any of the statistical analysis software preferred (i.e. SAS, JMP, XLSTAT)
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other departments
- A pragmatic, structured approach but be able to adapt to changing business requirements
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Fluency in English language and one other European language is essential
- Experience of working with strict health and safety protocols in a laboratory environment
