Role Summary:

As the Senior Engineer of Rotor Validation, you are responsible for the design and development of rotor testing, validation testing, and operations setup. You will contribute to complex test and validation programs for mitigating and understanding failure modes of rotors. You will be involved with designing and updating test rigs that can strategically fit the business needs. From technology development to testing for certification, you will be leading activities around rotor validation.

Essential Responsibilities:

You will work cross functionally with Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing, Services, Engineering… as part of the product development cycle. You will support them with issue resolution and quick corrective actions for design related causes (nonconformities).Other key tasks could be:
  • Development of methods, equipment, documentation and systems
  • Control TCE, QMS and BMS with relations to Blade test 
  • Plan, execute, monitor and report test of blades  
  • Support in identification and Qualification of suppliers of all aspects related to blade testing 
  • Scouting for new test methods and Intelligence of competitors/suppliers’ test set-up and performance 
  • Take leading role in selected Blade Test projects and be an active member in implementation and action plans 
  • Development of methods, equipment, documentation and systems
Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in mechanical engineering and/or equivalent knowledge/experience
  • Major experience in design and/or validation of mechanical systems (related to wind turbines)  
  • Proven experience in design, analysis and testing validation of rotors
  • Very good understanding of Pitch Bearing
  • Very good understanding of Main Shaft interfaces and design
  • Good understanding of Pitch Systems (Mechanical and Electrical)
  • Good understanding of blades
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken 
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and project management skills 
  • EU Work Permit 
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% a year
Desired Characteristics: 

As a person, you have proven communication skills, and can collaborate with global team members across cultural boundaries effectively. When necessary, you know how to influence others and lead initiatives. You can coordinate several tasks simultaneously, while having effective problem identification and solution skills, and are able to work under pressure and challenging conditions. You strive on driving improvement and change. 

It is an advantage if you have: 
  • Working knowledge of Unigraphics NX 3D-CAD or other 3D design platforms 
  • Deep understanding of Pitch Bearings 
  • Knowledge of Standards and Design Codes 
  • Significant experience in wind turbine design/validation and its components 
  • Engineering experience in medium-big size industrial companies
