Description
Xihelm is developing the first viable automated picking robot for glasshouse vegetables. You’ll be helping to make that a reality as our boots-on-the-ground with customers.
You will be our person on-site operating the local robots, reporting back on performance and liaising with the site staff.
Responsibilities
- Running trials (operating machinery) within glasshouses, using our robotic system
- Accurate logging and recording of data (e.g. reporting how many minutes fixing something takes)
- Operating a workshop. Keeping stocks up to date, organising stores and maintaining high working standards
- Communicate and escalate any difficulties encountered with London and onsite teams in a timely manner
- Cleaning robots and tidying work areas, and monitoring stock/parts/equipment
- Moving trolleys around the greenhouse and surrounding area
- Completing various checklists (end of day etc.)
- Operate/monitor multiple pieces of equipment during day-to-day operation to maintain quality and minimise unplanned downtime
Requirements
Must have
- Clear, concise communicator (written and verbal) in both Dutch and English (to at least B2 level)
- Experience working in a workshop, manufacturing or engineering environment
- Ability to work independently, take responsibility and seek help when needed
- Basic computer operation skills (including smartphones, email, spreadsheets)
- Basic numerical and literacy skills (percentages, reading manuals etc.)
- A drive to be organised, and to organise
- Be willing and able to work sometimes bending over, pushing machinery and up ladders etc
Could have
- Experience building/tinkering with machinery or computers
- Experience in the tomato greenhouse industry
Minimum experience/skills
- Basic computer operation skills
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow processes
- Clear and concise communicator
Experience in manufacturing/machinery/robotics is a strong plus.
Work will largely involve standing in the rows of a glasshouse alongside a harvesting robot. Job will require manoeuvring wheeled equipment manually, so some bending over & pushing required. The environment may be humid and hot.
You will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Furthermore, you need to prove you have the right to work in the UK (visa/passport etc.)
Benefits
Please note that this is a month-to-month contract. You will be paid & required on-site for 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (excluding 1hr unpaid lunch break). Shifts will most likely be running between 06:00 and 19:00, Monday - Friday. Working independently.
Hourly rate of €15-€20 depending on experience.
