The main responsibility of the project portfolio manager is to steer the portfolio of projects and to make sure the project management process is followed in daily routines by project leaders. Provide first level support to project leaders and ensure, project management system is used in intended way. Cooperation with solution supplier and pro-active participation on further improvements are part of the role. You’ll provide a training of process and system to the group of project leaders and system users. The project manager should create internal awareness about project management in the organization at various levels, making sure that business units delivery reputation will be continuously improved. You should pro-actively participate on the project with high importance, or possibly lead those projects. The project manager participates on regular portfolio meetings with top management helping and supporting managers to make the right decisions about portfolio priorities (providing right insight and information as a base for such decision). The project portfolio manager will report to the management team.
