If there’s anywhere you can make an impact as a Lead Data Scientist, it’s here. Because as an IT professional for one of the biggest recruitment agencies in the world, you help keep society going. We support Randstad Groep Nederland’s HR service delivery with high-tech apps and software, which we continue to improve. As such, our innovations follow one another in quick succession. We believe in the power of technology, provided it is combined with personal attention. And the same applies to our own employees: we recognise your revolutionary ideas, but above all, we recognise you. Your job satisfaction is paramount.
We develop close-knit teams in Randstad Groep Nederland’s IT department, where you are given the freedom to develop both yourself and your ideas. Do you dare to be bold in that respect? If yes, great. We offer plenty of opportunities for growth. We offer more than a job; we offer a career. The huge diversity of roles across the whole of Randstad Groep Nederland offers exciting perspectives to you as a Lead Data Scientist. Did you know that 80% of our senior management rose through the ranks in our own organisation? Join us and grow!
As one of the biggest recruitment organizations in the world, Randstad Groep Nederland is constantly improving its business and processes. Data, AI, and you as our Lead Data Scientists, are therefore indispensable!
Randstad, Yacht and Tempo-Team have access to vast amounts of data between them. Over two billion records: the attributes of millions of candidates, and data belonging to clients, potential candidates and our own organization. A treasure trove of information that our Data Scientists continuously explore to improve our business! But we are nothing without a Lead Data Scientist. Because you know how to unlock a data scientist’s full potential and have experience with bringing complicated models into production. Isn’t it great that you can help Randstad Groep Nederland make important inroads in the world of work?
What will you be doing?
As a Lead Data Scientist, you will take on a pivot role in growing Randstad’s data science capability. Therefore, at least 5 years of relevant professional experience are required. Your responsibility will be to cooperate with and coach data scientists on the team to work towards production-ready versions of machine learning models. Your main tasks will be to challenge and assist teams during all phases of model development: from idea incubation and experimentation to prototyping and eventually industrialization. As such, you have a good understanding of what it takes to create valuable AI solutions and you will need to feel at home at the intersection between business, data science, and software development.
With whom will you be working?
As a Lead Data Scientist you will grow a big network of colleagues across the organisation. On one hand you coordinate a team of Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers that you see on a continuous basis. You facilitate knowledge sharing, stimulate peer review and challenge people on their way-of-working. Your Data Scientists are always hungry to learn more! It’s your job to grow their craftsmanship and unlock their full potential.
On the other hand, you talk to various stakeholders across the organisation. These include product owners, business analysts, marketers, staffing consultants, sales consultants and the management team. It all depends on what data and products you and your team of Data Scientists are working on, and which innovative new use cases you want to explore. Set your own agenda to what you think contributes most to making Randstad truly data driven!
You may come from a science background or have experience in an environment driven by scientific methodology. You know your machine learning and statistics and can apply your skills to solve real world problems. Most importantly, you are a good communicator and are able to explain complex problems to both technical and non-technical people.

At our head office in Diemen, where over 150 IT professionals work and experiment with new technology all day. You will work in one of the 24 DevOps teams, but by no means in a silo. Because thanks to our agile mindset, numerous tribes - as we call them – work together on the same product or service. This makes for interesting cross-pollination between colleagues from all kinds of teams and disciplines within the IT department and beyond! You are given a great deal of freedom to organise your work yourself. Our teams are diverse and – for an IT department – boast a relatively high number of women (over 30%). We’re quite proud of this, because we know that the more diverse the teams, the better the results.
