Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Azure Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions within a modern Azure environment in the Energy sector.

This role focuses on enabling data-driven operations by improving data accessibility, quality, and structure through robust engineering practices. The successful candidate will work closely with Business Analysts, operational stakeholders, and technical teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into sustainable data solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and implement data solutions using Azure Data Lake
  • Develop and maintain reliable ETL / ELT data pipelines
  • Integrate data from enterprise and operational systems
  • Improve and support data quality and consistency
  • Develop and apply data models aligned to best practices
  • Enable operational reporting and analytics through structured data products
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Contribute to the development of a scalable data platform within a regulated environment

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Data Engineer
  • Strong experience within the Azure data ecosystem
  • Proven experience developing independent data pipelines
  • Strong SQL and Python skills (e.g. pandas / PySpark)
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Azure Data Factory
    • Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
    • Azure Databricks
    • Azure Synapse Analytics (or similar)
  • Experience with orchestration tools (e.g. ADF, Databricks Workflows, Airflow)
  • Exposure to Power BI
  • Experience with version control (Git)
  • Experience working in regulated environments

Data Modelling

  • Practical experience applying:
    • Kimball
    • Data Vault 2.0

 

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within the Energy sector
  • Experience delivering solutions under government or public-sector contracts
  • Experience building end-to-end data solutions
  • Experience supporting analytics
  • Familiarity with CI/CD (Azure DevOps)
  • Proficient / Fluent Dutch

  • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams

Qualification

A relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (HBO / WO) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Data & Analytics, or a related field is required.
