AkzoNobel creates everyday essentials to make people’s lives more liveable and inspiring. We are a leading global producer of paints, coatings and specialty chemicals, supplying essential ingredients, essential protection and essential color to industries and consumers worldwide.
AkzoNobel encompasses a number of business units (BUs). The consolidation and coordination of solid, timely, and high-quality reporting and accounting for all BUs is performed by the corporate global consolidation and reporting department (ACD-FR). Within this context, your mission in this role is to help ACD-FR optimize its activities in line with AkzoNobel’s reporting requirements.
Is this a challenge that matches your skills and ambitions as a precise, analytical and highly organized finance professional? Can you deliver the highest standards in terms of the information gathered, processed and reported? Are you able to observe the highest ethical standards in an environment where you handle confidential figures and information? Above all, do you have what it takes to make a real difference within our fast moving multinational and multicultural environment?
If you offer all this and more we invite you to apply for the role of
BU Accounting Specialist
The role and its responsibilities
This is a full-time position located at our site in Arnhem, the Netherlands, and you report to the Director Specialist Accounting & Governance.
You assume wide ranging and important responsibilities, acting as the focal point for BU accounting managers and accounting staff. This requires you to monitor the BU reporting process, providing feedback and assess BU accounting performance. You also monitor and provide support regarding the consistent application of the accounting principles as defined for AkzoNobel (IFRS).
Further, you perform analytical reviews on the data received from BUs. This includes validation checks on data and analysis of P&L, BS and Cash flow statements. You also perform analytical reviews in which you communicate with, and provide support to, the parties delivering this information to ensure correct reporting thereof.
Finally, you drive and participate in improvement projects within ACD-FR, often in cooperation with other corporate departments.
To achieve all this you develop and maintain a strong relationship with the accounting staff of the BUs. You also support and interact with our consolidation processing department.
Needless to say you adhere to the highest procedural and ethical standards, including those set by governmental legislators, as failure to do so has the potential to negatively impact on the company and its stakeholders.
We expect the successful applicant to take the next step up after three or four years, possibly to a position abroad.
To apply for this position you must possess the following attributes:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting;
- Three to six years of financial experience, preferably within an audit firm or an international organization;
